How about some great songs with a comedic twist to kick off 2023? We are proud to present renowned comedian/songwriter Don White on Friday, January 6. (Listen to a few selections with Frank Critelli’s interview of Don here – start at 22:22).
Sweet Louise and the Monkey River Band will start things off at 7pm. Doors open at 6PM for an affordable dinner: chili con carne or veggie bean soup, corn bread, cakes with home-made whipped cream, plus juices and coffee.
Your at-will donation at the door helps support our artists and our Series. Parking is FREE in the garage adjacent to the church.
| ABOUT THE ARTISTS DON WHITE Don White is equal parts storyteller-comedian-author-troubadour-folk singer-songwriter, and has been bringing audiences to laughter and tears for 30 years. White’s arc as an award-winning songwriter and performer has taken him from his industrial hometown of Lynn, MA across the country as hitchhiker, through Boston’s comedy clubs and coffeehouses, and onto the stage with greats like Arlo Guthrie, Taj Mahal, Ritchie Havens, Patty Larkin, Bill Morrissey, Tom Rush, Loudon Wainwright III, and Christine Lavin, with whom he toured for 8 years all across North America in a co-bill called The Funny Side of the Street. At every point, White has been the ultimate observer, infusing his work with his experiences as a husband, a father, a seeker, and a joker. In 2011, he won the Jerry Christen Memorial Award, given out by Boston Area Coffeehouse Association, for his work with the community. Sweet Louise and the Monkey River Band Led by fiddle player Louise Miggins, “Sweet Louise and the Monkey River Band” entertains audiences statewide with their lively mix of folk, country and pop singalongs as well as some old time foot-stomping fiddle classics.
